Dr Bonny Khalwale is the current senator of Kakamega County. He defeated Dr. Brian Lishenga, his competitor to become the senator. Dr. Khalwale was the first senator of Kakamega County. He lost in the gubernatorial race of 2017 to H.E retired governor Oparanya. During that time, Cleophas Malala emerged the winner and became the second senator of Kakamega county.
